The Fort Chipewyan Winter Road opens for the season on Saturday at 9 a.m.

The road is open to light traffic only, meaning vehicles weighing less than 5,000 kilograms.

Travellers are reminded to watch for rough patches in the Delta area, and sharp and narrow turns on the sand hill area.

Only one vehicle is allowed on the ice bridges at a time.

Travellers are reminded there is no road patrol or cell phone service, nor any gas stations on the winter road, so people should make sure they're prepared for emergencies before travelling the road.
