The First Nations Bank of Canada says it will announce plans for expansion into the Northwest Territories at its upcoming annual shareholders meeting in April.

The bank will hold the meeting April 11 in Yellowknife.

It currently has branches in Saskatoon; Chisasibi, Que.; Walpole Island, Ont.; Winnipeg; Meadow Lake, Sask.; Whitehorse and Iqaluit.

The bank said it also plans to announce at the meeting the development of small market branches in Nunavut. Last year, it said it had plans to open banking operations in three more Nunavut communities.
