The owners of First Air and Canadian North have cancelled talks aimed at merging the two airlines.
First Air and Canadian North fly to communities in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
Parent companies Makivik Corporation and NorTerra announced Thursday that they have terminated discussions, with no future discussions to merge the airlines planned.
The two Inuit-owned companies announced in April they were in discussions to merge the airlines. At the time they said a merger would improve the "sustainability" of their operations.
