Firefighters quickly extinguished an abandoned campfire in Carmacks, Yukon, Tuesday.
The fire was reported by members of the public. It was small, but high winds and its location within the community caused concern.
Yukon Wildland Fire Management says abandoned campfires start most human-caused forest fires.
Meanwhile, crews from Watson Lake continue to fight a fire in B.C., burning 17 kilometres southwest of Watson Lake. The Yukon firefighters are expected to be replaced by teams from B.C. later today.
The fire danger rating continues to be "extreme" in the Carmacks and Haines Junction areas. The rating in the Dawson City area has now dropped to "moderate." The fire danger rating is "high" in the Whitehorse area.
There have now been 15 forest fires so far this season in Yukon.
