An unoccupied house in Iqaluit was heavily damaged by a fire early Saturday that the fire department says is suspicious.
More than a dozen firefighters responded to a call just after 6 a.m. local time.
Capt. Walter Oliver said smoke was coming out from House 1004 and from under the building.
The fire was progressing under the floor board and firefighters had to cut into it to put the flames out.
The public housing unit was unoccupied.
The fire is under investigation and arson has not been ruled out.
