Election day in Tlicho Grand Chief race

Members of the Tlicho Nation are voting Monday to elect their next Grand Chief.

The polls close Monday evening as members of the Tlicho Nation elect their Grand Chief.

Three candidates are running for Tlicho Government's top job. Current Grand Chief Eddie Erasmus is up against former Grand Chief George Mackenzie and well known politician James Wah-Shee.

Polling stations opened at 9 a.m. Monday morning in four communities — at the Cultural Centre in Behchoko, the community hall in Gamètì, and the council chambers in Wekweètì and Whatì.

Members living in Yellowknife can vote at Coast Fraser Towers.

Some 2,289 Tlicho citizens are eligible to vote. Polling stations close Monday evening at 8.
