Edmonton police are now asking the Yukon RCMP to assist in the search for Shelly Dene.

Dene was living in Edmonton when she was last seen by family and friends in August 2013. She was reported missing in November of that year.

In a news release, Edmonton police say unconfirmed information suggests Dene may have been travelling with a First Nations male, possibly in a red truck.

Police say the 26-year-old lived in Kelowna, B.C. for about 10 years before moving to Edmonton.

The release doesn't explain Dene's connection to Yukon.

Dene is described as a First Nations female, 140 cm tall, 50 kgs with brown eyes and brown hair.

Her grandmother, who's from Fort Chipewyan, Alta., said last year that it's unlike Dene not to contact family for months at a time.
