Dettah, N.W.T., chief not guilty of sexual assault
A jury has found Dettah, N.W.T., chief Edward Sangris not guilty of sexual assault.
Sangris was accused of sexually assaulting a woman between 1986 and 1996 when he was a band councillor. The woman, whose name is protected by a publication ban, said the assaults occurred while she was working in the band office.
The jury of six women and six men deliberated for about two hours Friday afternoon before returning with a verdict.
