Deepak Int. finally closes deal for diamond polishing plants
The N.W.T. Department of Public Works and Services says Deepak International has finally paid for the diamond polishing plants near the Yellowknife airport, a year and a half after the sale was announced.
In January 2013, the Government of the Northwest Territories announced the Edmonton-based company was buying the plants for $1.9 million.
The Department of Public Works says Deepak International paid for the plants earlier this week.
Deepak President Deepak Kumar has said he has secured deals with the mining companies for rough diamonds, but has refused to give details.
There is no word yet on when the polishing plants are expected to open.
