Deadline passes for Nunavut election candidates to declare

Nunavut residents thinking of running in the Oct. 27 territorial election had until Friday afternoon to file their paperwork.

Elections Nunavut says candidates have until 2 p.m. local time — 1 p.m. in Resolute and Kugaaruk — to submit their completed candidacy declaration form with local returning officers.

The elections authority will release the list of candidate around 5 p.m. CT Friday, following a three-hour period in which candidates who have submitted their forms can choose to withdraw.
