Four people are safe after the Coast Guard Auxiliary unit in Yellowknife rescued them from their sinking boat Thursday.

On July 31, the coast guard received a distress call from the people, who were on a medium-sized boat on a lake near Yellowknife. They said the boat was sinking.

The coast guard got to the boat and saved all four people. Their boat sank shortly afterwards.

It's not yet clear exactly where the incident happened, or what caused the boat to sink.
