Champion Alaskan dog musher Lance Mackey was stopped for speeding on Sunday and arrested for impaired driving after failing a breathalyzer test.

The four-time Yukon Quest winner told reporters after his Iditarod win in 2008 that he likes to go fast and not just when he's mushing his dogs.

He traded in a pickup truck he won in the 2008 Iditarod for a fast car.

Fairbanks police say that's the car he was driving when he was stopped for speeding early Sunday morning.

Mackey has been released on a promise to appear for a court hearing in July.
