Cellphone service restored in Yukon and Northern B.C.
Northwestel says cellphone service is back up after a disruption in Yukon today.
Calls could be connected between cellphones, and between landlines. But calls to a cellphone from a landline, or vice versa, were not connecting.
Northwestel says a failed node in Watson Lake was responsible for the loss of service.
"So what a node is, is where all the fibres connect into a central location, so if you have an issue with your fibre and the fibre gets cut, for example, you can still carry on," said Eric Clement, a spokesperson for Northwestel.
"If the node goes down, then you run into an issue like we are experiencing right now."
Clement says service should be fully restored by the end of the day. Watson Lake, Whitehorse and parts of Northern B.C were affected.
