Cambridge Bay RCMP seize vodka at airport
A 42-year-old man has been fined after Cambridge Bay RCMP seized six 60 ounce bottles of vodka from his luggage at the community’s airport.
RCMP say they received a tip about a man arriving on an afternoon flight with alcohol and possibly marijuana in his luggage.
He consented to having his suitcase searched and police found six 60 ounce bottles of Alberta Pure Vodka and two small liqueur bottles. Police say the alcohol has a street value of $1,900.
Permits from the Nunavut Liquor Commission are required to import liquor into Cambridge Bay.
The man was served with a $950 ticket for unlawful possession of alcohol.
