Body found in Mackenzie River near Fort Providence
A body was found in the Mackenzie River near Fort Providence on Wednesday.
Joachim Bonnetrouge, chief of the Deh Gah Got'ie First Nation in Fort Providence, says the body was found by local residents Wednesday night.
It was found close to the Mackenzie River's confluence with the Horn River.
Police say the cause of death is undetermined but the incident is not considered to be suspicious. The matter has been turned over to the Chief Coroner's office.
The body will be sent to Edmonton for an autopsy and identification.
