Almost five months after Ben Palluq of Iqaluit went missing, his sister says it may be time for another search.
Palluq, 44, was reported missing on March 21. RCMP and residents scoured the area inside and outside of the community for weeks but did not locate the homeless man.
Palluq's sister, Jeela Palluq-Cloutier, says that with the snow now gone, another search may turn up clues.
"There's a difference between searching in winter and searching in the summer," she said. "I really do not have specific ideas as to how that could happen but I have wondered if another search could happen."
Nunavut RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Yvonne Niego said another search was done just before the snow all melted.
"It's still a missing persons investigation and will remain open for several years if he is not located," she said.
Palluq is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slender build. He has short, dark hair and missing a front tooth.
The RCMP ask anyone with information to contact their local detachment or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
