Residents of Iqaluit may have noticed more people talking and texting on new smartphones including iPhones and Samsung Galaxy models.
Bell Mobility and Northwestel have begun testing a 4G network in the community. The companies say it's part of Northwestel's $233-million modernization plan.
There's no word on when testing will wrap up and full service will be available.
Last fall, Ice Wireless became the first company to provide cell service for newer phones in Iqaluit when it introduced 3G service.
