A married couple in Behchoko, N.W.T., won the community's "Biggest Loser" competition for losing weight.

Mary-Louise Simpson and her husband Robert took the prizes in the men's and women's categories, winning $2,000 each.

More than 40 people signed up and have been eating better and getting more exercise since September. The final weigh-in was Dec.17.

Daril Daniels, one of the contestants, said that before the contest his diet consisted mostly of fast food and frozen food. Now he has a few other recipes up his sleeve.

"I never thought I'd eat chicken breasts or blend food, so it's a pretty good program," he said.

This was the Tlicho community's third "Biggest Loser" competition.
