A kidney transplant recipient in Arviat, Nunavut, recently walked 112 kilometres to raise awareness and money for kidney disease.
It took Jackson Tagak Kablutsiak four days to trek the distance from Arviat towards Maguse Lake. He was accompanied by two of his closest friends and his grandmother's dog, Fye Fye.
Kablutsiak was the first and so far the only person from Arviat to ever to go through a kidney transplant.
He arrived back in Arviat Thursday afternoon to hundreds of residents welcoming him.
All proceeds from his fundraising will go to the Canadian Kidney Foundation.
His story will air next Tuesday on Igalaaq and Northbeat.
