Two Northern Store employees in Paulatuk, N.W.T., are facing charges following a police investigation into a reported armed robbery.

RCMP say they got a call June 19 saying an employee at the store was being held at knifepointWhen officers arrived, they were told the robber had fled with a large amount of money.

RCMP say during the investigation they found that two store employees were involved and that they had provided false information to the police.

Two men from Nova Scotia, ages 26 and 24, have been arrested and are facing potential charges of theft over $5,000, public mischief and possession of property obtained by crime.

They are scheduled to appear in court in Paulatuk on Aug. 20.

RCMP say all of the money involved has been recovered.

A spokesperson for the North West Company says the store was closed for one day and has been operating on reduced hours since the weekend.

The company says it hopes to have the community's only full-time grocery store operating as usual on Thursday.
