$60K of gold jewelry stolen from Whitehorse shop

Gold Originals on Main Street was targeted by a thief who broke in through a wall in a storage area at the rear of the building early Saturday morning

Police are investigating the theft of $60,000 worth of jewelry from a Main Street store in Whitehorse.

Gold Originals was targeted by a thief who broke in through a wall in a storage area at the rear of the building early Saturday morning. A display case was emptied of a large amount of gold nugget jewelry before thieves escaped into the back alley.

Store owners say they believe some of the stolen goods have already been offered for sale around Whitehorse.

They're asking anyone who is offered a deal on jewelry on the street to contact police.
