Nearly $35,000 was donated in less than 24 hours to a fund for the family of Tanner Sinclair, a 27-year-old father who died from stab wounds on Tuesday.

Sinclair was originally from Alberta and worked as a hunting guide in Yukon. His wife Whitney Sandulak is pregnant with their second child.

Anne Asquith is trying to help the family.

"From what I understand there is no life insurance," she said. "Keele is almost three and Whitney is due so a great need for donations, anything, anything that anybody can donate is very, very much appreciated."

Sandulak's workplace in Whitehorse, The Studio, has begun a collection for the family. Sinclair's family has also set up a Go Fund Me account to help raise money for Sandulak. More than $37,000 has been donated to the Tanner Sinclair Family Fund so far.

Sinclair was found with stab wounds outside a house on Lazulite Drive in Whitehorse early Tuesday morning. He later died at Whitehorse General Hospital.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Michael Macpherson, 32, in connection with Sinclair's death. He is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
