RCMP arrested two people this afternoon in Grise Fiord, Nunavut, in connection with an incident in the community Friday morning.

Grise Fiord RCMP responded to a call about gunfire at around 6:40 a.m. Police say there are no reports of injuries.

More officers were sent to the community and police asked residents to keep long distance telephone use to a minimum to ensure availability for emergency services.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

About 150 people live in Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island. It's Canada's most northern community.
