2 arrested in Grise Fiord shooting incident

RCMP arrested two people this afternoon in Grise Fiord, Nunavut, in connection with a report of gunshots in the community this morning.

RCMP arrested two people this afternoon in Grise Fiord, Nunavut, in connection with an incident in the community Friday morning.

Grise Fiord RCMP responded to a call about gunfire at around 6:40 a.m. Police say there are no reports of injuries.

More officers were sent to the community and police asked residents to keep long distance telephone use to a minimum to ensure availability for emergency services.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

About 150 people live in Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island. It's Canada's most northern community.
