The fourth annual SPARKS Literary Festival hit St. John's on Sunday, featuring members of the Newfoundland and Labrador writing community.

Some featured guests included Trudy Morgan-Cole, Wayne Johnston, Joan Sullivan, and CBC Radio Noon host Ramona Dearing.

Students and graduates from Memorial University's creative writing program, as well as members of the university's writing community, also took part in the event, held at MUN's School of Music.

The winner of the second annual Cox & Palmer SPARKS Literary Award will be announced during the closing session. The winner will take home a cheque for $2,500.

The festival was established in 2010 to recognize literary works from across the province.
