A man who was camping in Woody Point was found in the ocean with a head injury early Wednesday morning.

The RCMP in Rocky Harbour got a call for help shortly before 5 a.m.

People camping with the 29-year-old man said they found him in the ocean after he went missing from the campsite.

Local firefighters helped get him out of the water, and he was rushed to the medical centre in Norris Point.

Police said while the man's injuries are not life-threatening, he has been airlifted to St. John's for treatment.
