Woman found in park in Mount Pearl dies

A woman who was found in critical condition early Monday in the Powers Pond area of Mount Pearl has died. The RNC called in some of its top detectives Monday morning to Mount Pearl, while a woman was rushed to hospital in serious condition.

A woman, who was found in the Power's Pond area of Mount Pearl in critical condition, has died.

RNC officers were called to Power's Pond Park at about 1:48 a.m. on Monday morning, where they found the woman and sent her to hospital in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, in collaboration with the office of the Chief Medical Examiner, has cordoned off a trail in the area. Investigators will remain there overnight.

The RNC has called in members of its major crimes and forensic identification units to investigate.

Police are asking anyone who may have information connected to this incident to call the RNC's Major Crime Unit or Crime Stoppers.
