Southern and eastern parts of Newfoundland are experiencing a winter storm that's set to dump a lot more snow overnight.
Environment Canada has forecast up to 25 cm for most of the the area stretching from Harbour Breton on the south coast of the island through the Bonavista and Avalon peninsulas.
The southeast Avalon, where a winter storm warning is still in effect, may get as much as 30 cm.
Winds will also continue to pick up over the southeastern Avalon Wednesday night, with gusts expected to reach 60 km/h in the Cape Race area.
There were numerous closure announcements during the day for schools on the south coast, and in eastern Newfoundland and southern Avalon areas.
In Labrador, the cold also created a challenge Wednesday, although schools in Makkovik and Postville remained open for classes. However, K-12 classes in Nain were cancelled.
