A man accused of running down his girlfriend in Airport Heights in October will be remaining in custody over the holiday season.

William Conway, 50, is facing a charge of criminal negligence causing death.

Conway also faces other charges, including impaired driving causing death, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

Police allege he killed 57-year-old Veronica Doyle on Firdale Drive in the early morning hours on Oct. 24.

Conway told the court on Friday that he wants to go to trial as soon as possible.

The court was told that legal aid is still seeking a lawyer to put in place for Conway.

The matter is slated to be back in court Jan. 10.
