A forest fire forced the evacuation of part of Natuashish in northern Labrador Sunday afternoon.

Flames burned trees and brush several hundred metres west of the community.

Local firefighters called in a water bomber from Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

It brought the fire under control within an hour.

No one was injured and no homes were damaged.

Sunday night provincial firefighting officials reported that firefighters on the ground were putting out hot spots in the area.
