Police have sought an arrest warrant for a man accused of attacking a woman in St. John's over the weekend.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the suspect, 38, faces charges that include assault, assault causing bodily harm and choking.
As well, the man faces charges of breaching court orders and the terms of his probation.
The incident happened on Saturday night on Henry Street. The woman is being treated in hospital for injuries sustained in the assault.
Police said the man and woman knew each other.
