School's out for summer and the CBC's Angela Antle has a plethora of events to take in this weekend

Friday - Take in acandlelight concert with Green & Gold at the historic Commissariat House. Tickets available at Fred’s Records; showtime is 8 p.m.

Friday - There's a fine craft opening at theCraft Council Gallery, located in the Devon House Craft Centre. The 2014 Awards for Excellence will also be presented during the event, which starts at 7 p.m. 

Friday - Group art show opening at The Leyton Gallery of Fine Art. New works by Michael Pittman, Sue Miller, Bonnie Leyton, Rhonda Pelley, Brent Coffin, Ginok Song, Jillian Waite, Iakov Afanassiev, Toby Rabinowitz, Jack Botsford, John MacCallum, Malin Enstrom, Kelsey Una, Jennifer Barrett, Tia Connolly, Louise Sutton and Anita Singh. The opening begins at 5 p.m.

Wreckhouse International Jazz & Blues Festival:

Friday - Jody Richardson and the East Coast R&B All Stars at the Bella Vista, 8 p.m.

Friday - Denis Parker & John Clarke with Garrett Mason, at The Fat Cat, 9 p.m.

Saturday - Yoruba music and jazz with Jorge Luis Torres and the group Iroko at the LSPU Hall, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday - Craig Hadlow, with stories and drumming at the LSPU Hall; a 2 p.m. start.

Sunday - Alexis Baro Quintet with Laila Biali at the LSPU Hall, 7:30 p.m.

Sunday - Patrick Boyle Quartet at the Fat Cat, 9 p.m.

Saturday - Art opening at The Emma Butler Gallery featuring new work by John MacDonald, beginning at 2 p.m.

Monday - Don't miss Canada`s Big Birthday Bash, with Tegan & Sara with Repartee and GALA, live on George Street. Gates open at 6 p.m. For tickets, click here.

Tuesday - Canada Day Sunrise Ceremony on Signal Hill. Join Parks Canada in celebrating Canada’s 147th birthday with flag waving and cake at 6 a.m. A free shuttle service by Metrobus will run from the Signal Hill Interpretation Centre, beginning at 4 a.m. Canada Day festivities at 2 p.m. - Bouncy castles, a kids’ carnival, face painting and a concert. At 8:30 p.m. take in the Connemara concert at the Quidi Vidi bandstand; with fireworks at 10 p.m.
