It's a great weekend for live music downtown: 

Friday — Indie Rock -  Mayhemingways are sharing the stage with Green & Gold at The Ship 10:30 p.m.

Saturday – Indie Rock - Derm Kean & An Incredible Woman with Pockethands at the Fat Cat 10 p.m.

Sunday – Brazilian jazz – A night of vocal jazz and Brazilian gems - with Renee Antle, Bill Brennan, Patrick Boyle, RickHollett, Scott Mansfield and Mark Peddle at The Ship 8:30 a.m.

St. John’s Pride Weekend


Brunch at The Rocket on Water Street – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Work by Mike Gough and other artists will be on display at Eastern Edge on Harbour Drive.
Art Show - "That's So Gay 709!" At Eastern Edge Gallery on Harbour Drive, 7 p.m.

Youth Bowling for LGBTQ youth at St. Pat’s Bowling Lanes 7 p.m.

Comedy night with Richard Ryder and Trevor Boris at the Uptown bar & Grill 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

A variety night – “More Than Queens” – celebrating the diversity of the queer, non straight & trans communities, queer performance art, alt drag performances, a live band plus two Dj’s All are welcome to this 19+ event (promises to be risqué) at Distortion 11 p.m. – 3 a.m.


Trans Picnic – Picnic for the trans members of the St. John’s LGBTQ communities with lunch provided at Harbourside Park 1 p.m.

LGBTQ Hike – starting at the Quidi Vidi Dog Park, a summer stroll with master hiker Nathalie Brunet. 1 p.m.

Sunday (Festival Day):

The Pride Parade – Floats and walking groups starting at City hall and continuing down Duckworth ending at Quidi Vidi lake 1 p.m.

Pride on the Lake -  A picnic style day with music from The Duds, Brianna Gosse, Whiskey Fire, City on the Coast with special belly dance performances plus Bryan Oliver DJ’ing all day 2-6 p.m.

OUTstanding Sounds – A fundraising concert for Camp Eclipse by Roz MacPhail D.F. Cook Hall at MUN music school 7:30 p.m.

Monday: The Closing Gala a fancy dress party at The Bella Vista 6 p.m.

Mount Pearl City Days 

Mount Pearl City Days kick off today and continue through the weekend. 

Friday – roast piggy –a family pig roast with music by Stomp Box. There’ll also be free refreshments, tractor rides, and games for all ages at St. David’s field 6 p.m. Followed by an outdoor screening of Muppets Most Wanted.

Saturday Win your weight in ice cream! Win the “Best Decorated” bike contest to win your weight in ice cream (ages 12 and under) plus milk-carton races performances by MAX Dancers & Martial Artists, Teddy Bear Picnic with Terry Rielly, birthday cake, BBQ, Amazing Race Scavenger Hunt, canoe rides, and bouncy castles at Powers Pond Park starts at 11 a.m.

Sunday - Princes & Princesses Pancake Breakfast at the Reid Community Centre. Admission: $2 per child, $5 per adult. 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Followed by a concert at St. David’s Field starting at 2 p.m. with Sullivan & Slaney and wrapping the celebrations with The Masterless Men and the Irish Descendants until 11 p.m.
