Violent robbery in St. John's being investigated
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John's is investigating a robbery with violence early Saturday morning.
Police responded to a report shortly after 3 a.m. that a robbery had taken place earlier in the downtown area.
The female victim was treated at hospital for injuries sustained in the robbery.
Police provided no further details.
Impaired driver arrested
Meanwhile, an impaired driver who was injured in an accident was arrested and charged Saturday morning.
The RNC said the single-vehicle collision happened around 3 a.m. on Pitts Memorial Drive, near New Gower Street.
The driver was treated for a minor injury, and charged for impaired driving, refusing the breathalyzer, and uttering threats.
Damage to the vehicle was extensive.
The accused spent the night in the police lockup and was scheduled for court Saturday morning.
Arrest made on George Street
Police arrested a man early Saturday morning for mischief, following an incident in downtown St. John's.
The man, 19, was arrested by officers on patrol for damaging the door of a nightclub on George Street.
He was also arrested for breaching a court order.
The man was held over for court later on Saturday morning.
