A couple escaped injury but lost their pickup truck Tuesday while they were hauling trash to a local dump.

"I don't know what happened. When I looked in the rear-view mirror, it was all fire," said truck owner Carl Walsh, who was driving with his wife through Lewin's Cove when the payload caught on fire.

Walsh tried to pat the fire out by himself, but could not contain it.

A resident living nearby used a fire extinguisher, but that didn't work either, and within five minutes the fire was out of control.
