A man reported as lost while trouting is safe and sound after spending a night in the woods in eastern Newfoundland.
RCMP said the man, 60, got lost in the fog in the Witless Bay Line area.
The man was able to tell his family he was in trouble before his cellphone battery died, police said.
He spent the night in a cabin he found before searchers located him late Sunday afternoon. An RCMP dog unit worked with the Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue Team and a helicopter based in Clarenville.
RCMP said people heading to the outdoors should pack food and water, a fully charged cellphone and a compass or GPS. They should also tell family where they're headed and when they expect to return.
