The federal and Newfoundland and Labrador governments have announced plans to start paving the southern section of the Trans-Labrador Highway.

The work will cost more than $85 million.

A 200 km section of road between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Red Bay will be widened and paved — less than half the length of that stretch of highway.

Preliminary construction has been slated to begin this year at the Red Bay end of the road.
