Although he wouldn`t give an exact date, Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Tom Marshall says the legislature is expected to soon open.

"We're going to be opening around the middle of the month," said Marshall.

"We are going through the last part of the budget process. This weekend, we'll be busy with that, and then when we do that, we'll come up with a date to open the house of assembly. It will be relatively soon."

Marshall said the House usually wraps up around the May 24th weekend, but he expects that they will still be working in the legislature well into June.
