Less than two weeks after announcing the return of the American Hockey League to St. John's, more than 80 per cent of the yet-to-be-named team's season tickets have been sold.

A team official said Monday that they're working hard to prepare for the season's launch this coming fall.

"We need to get some help here pretty quickly, and we've been contacting some of our former employees with the St. John's Maple Leafs and other people in the league who've expressed an interest in coming onboard," said Glenn Stanford, the team's vice-president.

He said the team is still trying to get an office up and running.

Former Newfoundland and Labrador premier Danny Williams announced June 10 that the Winnipeg AHL team known as the Manitoba Moose would be moving to St. John's, where it would play at the Mile One Centre.
