Third man charged in Portugal Cove Road murder case
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has arrested and charged a third man in connection with a murder on Portugal Cove Road in St. John’s last July.
RNC arrested 29-year-old Jonathan Eugene Rowe. He is charged with accessory after fact to murder.
The charge relates to the death of Nick Winsor.
Winsor, 20, was shot to death during what sources have told CBC was an attempted robbery.
Philip Pynn and Lyndon Butler face second-degree murder and attempted murder charges.
Pynn was the subject of a two-day police search following his friend Winsor’s death. Rowe is accused of helping Pynn escape.
Butler was arrested soon after Pynn was taken into custody last July.
CBC News reported last summer that police believe Pynn, Winsor and Butler arrived at the home with weapons and a plan to steal jewellery.
Rowe appeared in provincial court late Thursday, and was remanded into custody.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance by video on April 20.
