St. John's is about to get a new arts and entertainment newspaper, aiming to fill the void left by the discontinuation of The Scope.
Chad Pelley, a local author and blogger, said his free monthly publication, The Overcast, will hit stands in February.
According to Pelley, he hopes the paper will fill the void left by The Scope, but also have its own individual flavour.
Pelley said a paper celebrating the local arts scene has been a long-standing dream of his.
"The idea of this paper is to be, you know, the voice of the community. It's going to be really interactive with the people and the places it's covering," he said.
"You get to hear from the artists, the entrepreneurs and the researchers at MUN and stuff directly."
Pelley said The Overcast will feature sections ranging from books and music, to food and relationships.
He said he believes there is enough advertising money in the area to sustain this new venture.
