Motorists planning to drive through Terra Nova National Park should prepare for traffic delays and stoppages — 12 to 16 weeks' worth.
Parks Canada issued an advisory this week that road construction is scheduled to continue on the 42-kilometre section of the Trans-Canada Highway until late November.
Although the federal government has released only a few details, Terra Nova Mayor Paul Noseworthy said $12 million will be spent upgrading culverts and replacing asphalt.
The culvert work was identified after Hurricane Igor three years ago.
In the town of Terra Nova, council has been told that four kilometres of dirt road will be upgraded, but not paved.
Reaction to the lengthy delays from drivers has been mixed. Some say they're frustrated while others are taking it in stride.
