The Telegram is no longer shipping copies of its newspaper to Labrador, citing transportation costs.

"We're not a Labrador paper specifically, so we weren't looking at Labrador as a market to make and sell loads of papers. We just knew there was an appetite there for it amongst some people," said managing editor Steve Bartlett.

Bartlett said the decision was made a month ago, and was made largely because of finances.

"Unfortunately in this instance, because of the cost of getting the paper there, we had to look at removing the print option from our readers up there."

Bartlett said parent company Transcontinental Media will offer subscription options that include bundling digital versions of the Telegram with copies of the two regional newspapers in Labrador, the Labradorian and the Aurora.
