Police in St. John's arrested a teenager after the 17-year-old took them on a chase Tuesday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary first tried to pull over the teen's vehicle near Blackmarsh Road and Jensen Camp Road — but he wouldn't stop.

The suspect later jumped out of the car and fled on foot, but he left the vehicle in drive and it rolled into a nearby fence.

The Constabulary called in its K-9 unit and  tracked the teen to a house on Empire Avenue.

The youth faces charges of breaching court orders, resisting arrest and numerous offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
