Police believe a man caught during a robbery in a St. John's home this week is responsible for a string of similar crimes.

The suspect, 29, was arrested while ransacking a home on Mount Royal Avenue late Tuesday afternoon.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary charged the man with break and enter, possession of break-in tools and breaches of court orders.

On Wednesday, investigators laid about 20 additional charges in connection with other recent break-ins around the city.

The suspect was expected to appear in provincial court in St. John's on Thursday.

The other burglaries occurred on Musgrave Street, Jasper Street, Quebec Street, LeMarchant Road, Patrick Street, Casey Street, Hamilton Avenue and Linscott Street.
