The Eastlink CeeBee Stars used home ice to their advantage this weekend to not only win the Herder Memorial Trophy, but to defeat the defending champions in a sweep.

The CeeBees defeated the Clarenville Caribous 4-2 on Saturday night, sealing the Herder championship in four straight games.

The CeeBees won their first Herder since 2008, taking the championship before a home audience at S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium in Harbour Grace.

The team had struggled during the regular season, winning just seven games and barely making it into the playoffs.

The playoffs, though, were another story, with the CeeBees overpowering their competition.

Ryan Delaney, who scored twice in Saturday night's game, was named most valuable player for the playoffs.
