The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a couple of disturbances Saturday night in St. John's.
Around 11 p.m. officers arrived at a residence on Crosbie Road, to find a disturbance between a mother and her 15-year-old son.
Police say the boy was charged with assault and mischief, after causing damage in the home.
He was taken to the Youth Detention Centre in Whitbourne, and will make a first court appearance in St. John's on Sunday morning.
Constabulary patrol officers then responded to a dispute between a man and woman at their residence in the Hayward Avenue area. Police arrived at the home around 1:30 a.m.
The man, 40, was charged with assault and detained for court this morning.
Injuries are reported to be not of a serious nature.
