Police in St. John's have arrested a teenager involved in an armed robbery that took place in broad daylight last week, but as it turns out, he wasn't actually armed.

A male walked into Marie's Mini-Mart on Stavanger Drive at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, demanding cash and cigarettes.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested and charged the boy, 15, with armed robbery, disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police said the weapon was believed to be a firearm, but when it was recovered, they determined that it was an imitation.
