Teen in snowmobile accident dies

A 13-year-old boy who was involved in a snowmobile accident on the southwest coast of Newfoundland has died of his injuries.
Police said it appeared that the boy was snowmobiling alone in Fox Roost-Margaree, near Port aux Basques, at the time of the accident on Tuesday, shortly after 4:30 p.m.
He was found near the side of the road in the middle of the Fox Roost section of the community.
He was taken to hospital on the west coast, and then flown to the Janeway in St. John's. That's where he died Wednesday morning.
RCMP Const. Shawn Skinner said the boy was found underneath the machine.
"It's open country, so the kids are snowmobiling and people are snowmobiling all around the community," said Skinner.
He added that the boy was wearing a helmet when he was found, and it did not appear to be damaged.
