Mount Pearl school bus crash sends students to hospital

Four students were sent to hospital following a collision between a school bus and a vehicle just before 3:00 pm Thursday at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Smallwood Drive in Mount Pearl.
The Eastern School District told CBC News that 38 students were on the bus, two of which were immediately sent to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Two other students were subsequently taken for medical treatment by their parents. The bus driver was also taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Students on the bus were from St. Peter's Junior High.
The bus was travelling East and the school bus North, according to the RNC.
The traffic lights at the intersection were not working properly when the accident occurred.
"The lights were flashing red at the time," said RNC Const. Karen Didham
The RNC is seeking witnesses to the incident.
