A Crown attorney said Tuesday that additional charges are likely to be filed against a physician already accused of sexual assault.

Dr. Rasheed Kadhem was charged with four counts of sexual assault in December. The charges relate to a patient who had been in his care.

At provincial court in Gander, Crown attorney Jerred Moore told a judge that the federal Crown anticipates laying other charges against Kadhem.

No details, however, were provided on what the charges are.

The case will be called again in March.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador said Kadhem voluntarily suspended his practice after the charges were laid.
